Local Students Can Apply for a $1,000 Scholarship from Southern Quality Propane

Jefferson County Schools is pleased to share an exciting scholarship opportunity for this year's graduating seniors. Southern Quality Propane is offering 30 scholarships of $1,000 each through the Sam Gentry Southern Quality Propane Scholarship Program to students planning to attend college or trade school.
About the scholarship
The Sam Gentry Scholarship was established to honor Sam Gentry, a respected community leader known for his hard work, honesty, and integrity. Southern Quality Propane created this program to support students who share those values — young people who are committed to building a better future for themselves and their communities.
The scholarship is open to students pursuing a four-year university degree as well as those enrolling in accredited trade school programs.
Who is eligible?
Any Jefferson County graduating senior who plans to attend college or an accredited trade school is encouraged to apply. Students should demonstrate drive, community involvement, and a commitment to their goals.
📅 The application deadline is May 8, 2026. Seniors are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to ensure their submission is considered.
