First Week Update
Good afternoon, Tigers, đ
As we begin our first week of school, we want to thank you for your patience and understanding. We would like to express our deep appreciation for our studentsâ and staffâs efforts in enduring this heat wave accompanied by challenges with our air conditioning system.
The health and safety of children are of paramount importance. In response to heat advisory concerns and air conditioning maintenance I visited each building on the Jefferson K-12 campus at approximately 1 PM. The highest temperature recorded in a small number of classrooms was 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Most classroom temperatures were measured at 78 degrees Fahrenheit.
To help our students stay cool at school we encourage them to bring water bottles to remain properly hydrated throughout the day. Also, students are permitted to wear appropriate length shorts and short sleeved shirts.
We will make every effort to make the necessary decisions and announce heat-related plans due to a dangerous increase in the heat index as soon as possible. Please stay connected and contact the front office should you have any questions. Notifications will be made via phone call system, Focus, and the districtâs Facebook page and website.
Sincerely yours,
Superintendent Eydie Tricquet
